Internal slabbing with metal studding refers to the process of constructing an internal wall or ceiling frame using lightweight metal studs, which is then covered with plasterboard ("slabbing") to create a finished surface.

 

This method is a popular alternative to timber framing for its speed, durability, and resistance to warping, and is commonly used for both residential and commercial partitions. Key steps include setting out and fixing the tracks, installing vertical studs, attaching the plasterboard, and then finishing the joints for a seamless result.
